... it seems as though that is what I have. I was diagnosed 9 years ago with psoriasis. About 9 months ago, my finger became swollen and had severe pain and stiffness in my neck and shoulders. After testing negative for arthritis with blood work and seeing a specialist, neither could tell me what was wrong. I have all the symptoms. Unfortunately right now I do not have health insurance as I am a nanny for my sister's two children. Lately, 4 of my toes on my left foot are swollen and the ball/heel of my foot is very tender. I also have a small cut in my skin of my big toe that seems it might be getting infected. Does anyone know if this is also a symptom? I guess I'm just wondering if this is going to get a lot worse if I don't get it treated ASAP. It already hurts when I walk now, especially in the mornings. I'm just afraid it will get so bad that I won't be able to pick up my nieces who are 1 and 3. If anyone could help that would be great
KatieRenee: I have PSA and all I can tell you is I was treated for RA yrs. before it became evident to them I had PSA. There is so many forms of PSA, and I will tell you I have toes red & swollen and bent. The balls of my feet do hurt. My hands are doing the same way and I have psoriasis under my fingernails, so I lose them very easily. If your big toe has psosiasis under it, it could get infected. I had a fingernail to get infected that way. Soak it in Epson Salt several times a day. I had to have mine lanced by a Dr. Your joints will be inflamed without medicine. I have been told the best meds. for PSA is Humira or Enbrel. They are very expensive so I don't know what state you are in, but you may qualify for some assisstance. Even and anti inflammatory med would certainly help... Sorry I am not much help... good luck to you...
I have had signs of psoriasis on my scalp, nails, eyes, and worst were the hands and feet. Every summer I had a huge flare. My rheumy did not treat it even though I had high inflammation, very high. Until I had this incredible flare after rotator cuff surgery. My Primary care MD was the first to make sure I was put on methotrexate and prednisone.. Lately I have been taking Celebrex and cymbalta for pain, but I get very tired and have osteo pain going on too. My liver enzymes were very high when I started the meds, the treatment brought them back to normal. I have had a high sed rate all along, for years, too. The liver enzymes came back to normal and are now rising again. I have a new Rheumy who is so much better than the old one. My concern now are the liver enzymes. I try to drink a lot of water and eat anti-inflammatory foods, but I still think I am in trouble. I have also had some of my big toe nails removed, they are heading to be all ingrown, I did have an infection there.
