In the last 8 months I have become extremely nervous, anxious and unable to concentratel I can't think clearly. I also have extremely bad nightmares. I take Clonazepam 0.5 MG tablets which works very well to relieve the extreme anxiety. The trouble is that I have to take it every day. There are days when I could use it more than once. I get so nervous that it seems like my head is in a vice. I get the feeling that it is imposible for me to complete the simplest of tasks. It is very hard for me to start a new day. I can see only bad.
Venlafaxine is the generic form of effexor. How long ago did you switch to the venlafaxine from the brand name effexor xr? Was the pharmacy careful to give you XR (extended release) when they switched to the generic venlafaxine?
I have read that some people respond differently to the generic then compared to the brand of this drug. And if the pharmacist didn't give you the XR in the venlafaxine that might explain your change in symptoms. Does any of this sound like what you are experiencing?
You are on a low dose of clonazepam. You may need to talk to your doctor about the dose and see if increasing is a possibility to help with the anxious feelings. Even just taking it from once a day to twice a day at the .5 mg may help. If you need the medication, then by all means take it. But if you don't need it, then don't especially since you are on a low dose.
Hope this helps,
Hi there, I have personally experienced a switch to a generic and a bad reaction. My doctor had me on Vivactil for migraines, but was switched because of insurance to the generic. Boy was that a mistake. It took about 2 weeks slowly building up a full blown anxiety driven depression.when I linked the two, I was put back on Vivactil. The doctor knows what to say to the insurance companies so it's covered. So I think you may be having a bad reaction to the generic. See what your doctor thinks. Hope this helps
