... killers for 5 years. My question is, after all of the horrible stuff I have been reading about suboxone, I do not want to take it. It has been 2 weeks on the stuff. Since I am taking such a low dose, can I just stop? Would'nt my withdrawals be over by now from the opiates?
If your feeling fine, you could slowly tapper yourself off the suboxone, don't go cold turkey though or you'll go through withdrawls from suboxone, and suboxone isn't a bad drug, it's getting a bad rap for some reason. I was on it for three months at 16mg and had no problems, well one problem headaches, but other then that it was great.
people who have a positive experience with subs don't often write to sites like this, that is why you only see the scary posts. Many people don't do the addiction therapy, they don't properly taper off, they come off at too high a dose, don't give it time to work, and aren't properly educated about it. When someone doesn't do the addiction therapy, they are taking a potentially dangerous shortcut in the healing phase of addiction. Plus, the therapist often can help determine if a patient might be ready to taper off. Ultimately, you, your subs dr and your therapist should all work together in this healing process and when it is time to taper. You are on a low dose, kudos to your doctor, that puts you at a real advantage when it is time to taper off. Good luck, pattishan
Thank you guys for your input. It is very much appreciated. I am going to therapy once a week. I have done tons of research on this subject but I just have a hard time functioning on the Sub and I still can not sleep. No worries, I will bring it up when I see my dr. again. I have so many things going through my head and it is hard to keep from just trying it cold turkey so I do not have to go thru this subox thing.
