I am on cymbalta for depression it does not help with arithrthis. What can i do tohelp with daily pain. I often feel like icant take this any more.
Hi mynana, I am sorry you are having such problems with your daily pain. I can really relate. One way I have found helps me to get my doctor listening, is to wirte down questions I have as they come to me, & keep a list for my appointment. My doc is so used to this he snatches it out of my hand when I walk in! Sometimes when we are in all this constant pain, it is hard to remember, & of course we want to think they have all the answers too. Communication is the biggest key here I believe. Do you see a Pain doctor or a Rheumatologist or what ? My doctor won't prescribe cymbalta, but I hear from others it really helps. I think key, is finding a working solution which could include more than one medication at a time. If you do change meds, be sure you wean slowly from the cymbalta as I keep hearing a lot of folks have problems with getting off of it. Have you done any research on you conditions? See what the experts are saying too.
A good place to see all the symptoms, causes, effects & meds is WebMD. They also have a forum where sometimes doctor will come on & answer your questions. I still think if you were to write down your questions & be very open about the cymbalta not helping is the best place to start. Best of luck to you...
Hi, my name is Teresa. After reading your question I can't explain it but you basically put into words how I have been feeling the past 4 years. I really don't have a solution to your problem because I can't resolve it for myself. (smile) I have tried acute puncture, arthritis medication, pool therapy, hot baths, physical therapy, etc. It gets frustrating learning how to deal with the pain. My doctors keep shoving pain medicine in my body to the point to where I am stuck in the house 90 % of my life. I guess knowing other people out there who can relate makes me feel better emotionally. Sorry I can't help but know that you have someone out here who hears you and understands.
I don't have arthritis pain (and so can't add much to the above posts), but my mum does (as well as issues stemming from a broken back, and spending almost 3 months this year barely able to stand up straight let alone walking and no one could tell her why) so I can't say anything with absolute conviction, but:
My mum takes naproxen to deal with her arthritis which allows her to be a bit less painful. But she also works with a trainer to help keep her strength and flexibility; she also sees a chiropractor and does pilates once a week, also to keep her loose and it is a not strenuous form of exercise which helps her arthritis but doesn't hurt or stress her joints or body.
I do know that unless you have a great insurance plan that covers 'alternative' therapies, those things can be expensive. But hopefully in doing some research you can find something to help, 'cause living with pain does suck. If you have a progressive forward thinking doc, s/he might be able to help with therapies that work in conjunction with meds to help make your life a bit more manageable.
Take care of yourself as best as possible,
Gee, I couldnt get my doctor to listen much less to give any more pain meds. Oh let me go with my husband (hes his doc to) and he says oh back hurts after work can i get some xtra... he does... well me he is always "you know this is ur life from now to when ever, Im allergic to most meds he says i can put you on this other but u could die... I belive he hates me gawd. so I sent my husband this last week to pave my way tell him why he hasnt listened to me in the past he thinks im not telling the truth, we both got this impression. He say (husband) that I am so much in pain we are not sexual...
OMG!!! is this all men are about, god, the doctor is so concerned that he cant wait to see me, what the heck , Im not joking here, I have spent the last few days thinking of what to do when I realized that I had wrote on cards when I was in a flare last few weeks ago, and It went thru the ting to the end of the whole what i called bad spells,I am handing him this if he doesnt read im not paying him, we shall see whom he will listen toooo. I go wendsday... good luck they have to listen to us ... i will post when i get done... Good luck to you too... feel better Lori
