I am so sorry your are suffering. When we are young we take advantage of our body(temple) whatever. We think it will last forever. But as we are finding out they don't. I wish I could take your pain away for just one day and just add it to mine. At 79years young you should be enjoying your life. But it doesn't always work that way for some of us. My mother-in-law is 83yrs young and can work circles around my 55yr old body. I have to say she has never had back surgeries or all the other complications I have had, but by josh she gets up everyday and trucks along. I am sorry I got off on that but I love to talk. What does your doctor give you if I may ask? Dave had a great suggestion. He is wise beyond his years. Well, I wish you luck, pain free days, and lots of happiness. Find a good pain management doctor. They should be able to help, God Bless
I have peripheral neuropathy in both of my legs diagnosed in 2000. It is the worst pain I have ever experienced. I have been put on many medications, somedays they help and then there are the other days nothing helps. That is why I think this is one of the worst pain issues there is. I am now on time released ms contin, neurontin, and ultram for breakthrough pain. Lyrica has become one of the choice of medications, but it didn't help me. I feel for you so much because this type of pain is unpredictable and doesn't always respond to any medication. I also have the (si-41) nerve stimulator with treatments lasing 45 minutes that I use 3 times a day. The time release medicines work so much better for me because they don't keep me in a fog. I truly can feel your pain. Hope you can find some info from the posts that will give you an idea of some things to discuss with your doctor.
JM My name is Bryan now I am 34 but have had atypical trigemenal&glossopharengeal neuralgia due to a badly broken jaw during a hockey game when I was 16in 92.& in 01 & 03 it took my own research b/c I saw every DR in every field from 92-01 when I found the best nerosurgeon in Pitt PA DR Jennetta whom developed the Surgury. I have had 2 Failed cranial MVD'S on my brain stem on the crushed nerves that control my face, neck, and Jaw.
I also have dystonia which is constant muscle constrictions in my neck and thraot ect.1st go to a pain clinic ASAP! They will be able 2 provide you with pain medication I would recomend MS-Contin not the generic version! Baclofen is very important it helps with muscle spasms. It has been 18yrs for me so I know what Im talkin about-& have been on every neurological drug on the market even neruotin which is supposed to b for epilesey!! EVERYONE out there should get the book "The Truth about the Drug Companies" written by Marcia Angell whom was the editor in chief of For 2 decades @ THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE & blew the lid off the Pharmaceutical CO. & has a list in the gloss.of all medicines, but was written in 04' but still has alot of Info about the industries corrupt methods! EVERYONE who is on medication NEEDS this book for ALL INTENT & PURPOSES!!!
