... My neck and that along with tylenol or something would work. For the past year that hasn't even worked. Rubbin my neck helps a little but not for that long. I had one a week or so ago that was so bad I was dry heaving, I was dizzy, and shaky, my vision was really blury, and light and sound hurt. My husband took me to the er and all the doctor did was give me a shot and some flexeril. How do you tell if its a migraine, headache, tension headache or something else? I don't like to take the flexeril since it knocks me out and I have a 4 year old daughter, but no over the counter meds work. Not even excederine migraine. I just want the pain to stop! I used to get one or two a month but for the past 6 months or so, I get one or two or more a week!
it does sound like some migraine symptoms with the blurriness, dizziness and the light and sound hurting plus the fact that it is hard to get rid of. Now they have some medicines to prevent them and you could see a neurologist to see if it is migraine and if you can take the preventative meds. Alot of foods and things you drink have things like MSG and nitrites that trigger migraines. Lunch meat and canned meat, mexican food, chinese food and wine have alot of these chemicals that can trigger migraines. Try to cut down on processed foods and any alcohol and see if this lessens how often you have these headaches. I read alot of magazine articles which talked about migraines and what triggered them and eliminated some of the foods and all alcohol and it did help me.
I have tension headaches that make my neck hurt so bad i have to lie down. Rubbing my neck does help ease the pain but not fully. It sounds like your having migraines but i think your neck might be the problem. That was my problem anyway. I tell you the best thing that works for me is going to the chiropractor. They can do adjustments and you wouldn't believe how one vertebrae can be out of alignment and make your whole neck and head hurt.If the chiropractor freaks you out like it does some people just have the electro shock therapy. Excedrin tension helped me but its off the market right now. Even if it is migraines the chiropractor will help. Just a thought. Hope this helps.
