anyone know how I can get an at home iv drug? I take dilaudid now but it does not work in the pill form . Guess it won;t be long before I get pancreatitus cancer.
I do not know what part of the country you live in but I do know from experience that certain hospitals have home care and along with that they have hospice care, I don't know the protocol where you are at but I have been a hospice patient before and needed IV medication, they through the orders of the doctor were able to come and give me the medications, generally hospice is for cancer and other patients who are not expected to survive but that was the way it was at the start but now there are certain situations in where patients may require hospice care for a certain length of time, it may even be that where you are at this can be done through home health care, there are so many changes in health care I wish I could be of more help but I want to provide you with some support and encourage you that things may not be as bleak as they seem, I would talk with the doctor he should know if this is feasable in your area and if so what has to be done in order to explain your options to you, I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted
You would have to get this ordered by the doctor, as already mentioned. You may just need an increase in the dosage of dilaudid. How many mgs are you on now?
Some things to remember with your condition are:
•Treatment for chronic pancreatitis may involve IV fluids; pain medication; a low-fat, nutritious diet; and enzyme supplements. Surgery may be necessary to remove part of the pancreas.
While part of the pancreas may have to be removed, this does not mean cancer. If you stay on a good nutrious diet and take enzyme supplements, you may be able to avoid any further complications. Also do not drink alcohol. It is a real no no with pancreatitis.
We wish you only the best and keep in touch.
