i have been taking this med.for about ten years.I was taking them 4 times a day.Now i have up them i take 11/2 every 6 hours. Is there a stonger drug so that i would not have to take so many in a days time.Is vicodin better or is it the same drug.and is 10/325 stonger or weaker that 10/500
Norco is the same thing as vicodin but less tylenol. The 10/500 of course is like vicodin ES a/k/a Vicodin extra strength. I would stick with the Norco or even go to the oxycodone 15 x 4-6 per day, same medicine but now with no tylenol at all. New research indicates the build up of the tylenol in the liver is extremely dangerous and for this reason many concerned docs have moved chronic pain treatment to either less or no tylenol at all. Hope this helps my friend & I pray you find relief from your back pain as I do not believe it is in the bottom of the pain pill bottle for ever... I know... I just dont know the answer :-(
You can't be getting much pain control after 10 years of using a weak pain killer like hydrocodone. Opiates like vicodin, percocet are meant to be used for acute pain and not chronic pain. When we use quick release opiates like statex (morphine) percocet (oxycodone) or hydro's (hydrocodone) the tolerence is developed very quickly and the pills become useless other then to quell the withdrawls that we will have by this time.
It is far better off for a chronic pain patient like yourself to be on sustained release opiates like oxycontin or ms contin ect. The only thing you end up doing by taking quick release opiate is developing a huge tolerence and a addiction to boot.
I got to the point were I would buy 80 10mg statex from someone every month and I would take the whole 800mgs at once and get almost nothing out of it. So it really is a waste of time after the first couple of weeks.
Can you talk to your doctor and ask about sustained release painklillers?? It would really be in your best interest to do so..Good luck... Dave
