I assume if I were addicted I would not be willing to admit it to myself. Just need a reality check so please help
some addicts do admit they are addicts, however their is also a difference between being medically dependent on a medication and being addicted to it. Addicts tend to take more than prescribed, quickly develop a tolerance, don't follow any other suggestions the dr may have to treat a condition, bum or borrow when they run out, count the seconds until they can take the next dose. Dependents have to have a medication for a legitimate reason, and are much more reasonable about following the drs advice and doseage. If you go into withdrawal when the demerol is stopped fairly quickly, it could be either dependence or addiction, if you go into wd withing 4 hours, that to me would signify that you either have a huge chronic pain problem, and you tolerance has risen, or you are very dependent or addicted to it. If you can skip days and feel fine, you are probably not dependent or addicted.
