... condition and I wish to stop but when I do I break out. Isn't ten years way too long to take this drug?
I would recommend Accutane but that's not natural. Yes, being on Tetracycline for 10 years is a very long time. I've heard that Omega 3 fish oils can help with acne. I'm sure some other people will know about natural ways of taking care of acne. Sorry I couldn't answer your question. I would still recommend taking Accutane though. Hope it helps! Good luck!
If you do stop it, may I suggest something natural. First you need to detox the system. Try 8 tablespoons of Aloe Vera Juice daily. Also on the skin, as a topical You can apply aloe gel.
I feel that it has been way too long for you to be on Tetracycline, "really now."
Talk about toxic. I am so sorry for you, but I know you will make the best of it.
My advice to you would be if it helps control your acne keep taking it. I used Minocin (minocycline) which is one of the tetracycline group of antibiotics for nearly 20 years and it did me no harm what so ever. More importantly it helped control my acne which was very, very acute so I had no choice but to keep taking it. Eventually, when I was about 36 years old, my acne disappeared but I was forever grateful to my doctor for prescribing the drug to me when I was in my teenage years and for preventing a life full of huge boils, spots and scars. So keep taking it and don't worry. You could if you want change to doxycycline (another one of the tetracycline group of antibiotics) which I think is less toxic but does the same job.
