I fell alseep for 2 nughts and woke up too late to take the ambien so I skipped it. I didn't take it last night. It's been 3 nights without it. I am not sleeping well anyway I think I have built up a tolerence.I was taking 12.5CR I suffer from chronic pain and recently started the Fentanyl patch and thought it would be better if I could stop the Ambien altogether. Any problems just stopping without tappering?
If you have been off of Ambien for 3 nights, you are doing GREAT! Tapering off is not really a good option, as your body never learns to establish it's own sleep pattern. I had serious side effects that put me in the hospital (including amnesia for 3 days) after I was given the Fentanyl Patch( after back surgery) and I was also on Ambien CR. After that episode, I took nothing for sleep or pain and (due to chronic pain) was not able to sleep at all. Now I take no pain meds, but still take an Ambien CR for sleep, as that's the only time I'm out of pain. I would like to stop the Ambien. I plan on taking a warm bath before bedtime and taking one Benedryl to see if I can sleep without sleep meds. It takes a week or two for a normal sleep habits to return. Keep up the good work!
