I have been taking 80mg oxycontin 4 times a day with 8mg dilaudid 4 times a day for breakthrough. Since they have changed the ocycontin from oc to op, they do not work as well on the pain.
Please double check with Walgreens. I heard they still have the OC in 40 and 80 mg's. Your doctor will need to write the script, "Oxycodone ER" not Oxycontin. It still is the EXACT same OC only distributed through Ethex pharmaceuticals. If you have success at Walgreens, please let us know. I hope your pain gets back under control very soon.
You are right Christine, but there is another company that is distributing it. Besides Ethex, Apotex is distributing the Oxycodone ER in both 40 & 80 mg at Walgreens. Make sure you do not mention Oxycontin, Purdue or maybe even generic. For the last 2 months I've been getting them & they are exactly the same drug, same color, size, oc on one side & 40 or 80 on the other. If you don't have a Walgreen's close by or they aren't stocking it, have you tried Opana ER in 30 or 40 mg? It's not as strong as Oxycontin, but it's the closest you will come to it.Good Luck...
