Is there another SSRI to switch to ? for weight loss?
I had been on Prozac for quite some time, but my anxiety increased. The Dr. switched me to Lexapro and that helped immensely. However, I was having problems with insurance covering it. Therefore I had to stop. That was difficult because while on it, I did so much better and lost weight! Probably due to the fact that I was more active and exercising. I think that with any antidepressant, if one is feeling better, they get more active, hence the weight loss.
The equivalent is 20 mg of Lexapro. This is a much more technically advanced drug, with much greater purity.
I believe you will have a favorable outcome with the change. Never take more than 20 mg a day. It should be taken in a single dose, once a day.
I am an MD toxicologist.
