been using five or more bags a day and was thinking of stopping cold turkey and using xanax and slleping pills to help. another idea i had was suboxone. im really not sure what to do and dont have much time to do it. any help is appreciated. im desperate.
I am sorry to hear that you are so pressed for time. Unfortunately, you cannot just take a suboxone pill or strip and it all be over with and done.
The suboxone induction cannot take place until you are completely into wd's and once you induct, it is a medicine that must be taken as directed by a certified physician that has taken a course specifically FOR suboxone / subutex. This medicine DOES help with cravings and addiction, but it does NOT just take one dose and magically make the wd's go away. It is a medicine regime. And, must be taken seriously as such.
If you have come across subs on the street or by a 'friend', then you will find out either by inducting yourself too soon (which will cause serious immediate wd's) or by waiting until you are into wd's and then taking it, that it is a medication that has to be taken every day. If you take it for just a day or two, and stop, your wd's are there waiting for you.
I wish there were something else I could tell you about it, but unfortunately, there is no quick fix to addiction.
I wish you the best of luck,
If you can get on suboxone, it will get you thru at least 3 of the days in jail without withdrawal as it stays on the receptor sites for a few days after the last dose. Suboxone isn't really supposed to be stopped, but in your case, you would have no choice. Jilly is right, you will have to be in wd for 24 hours before you start it and I would recommend subutex in your case, there is less chance of precipitated withdrawal. I am not sure if they would give it to you in jail, but it can stop withdrawal and craving so if you give it a chance, you may be able to quit riding the horse with suboxone and some counseling. Many people think the counseling is a hassle, but it really is the surest way with suboxones help to stop the H. I want you to know you are in my prayers, go to suboxone.com and look for the dr locator, open the search paramaters to 100 miles of your house, and call til you can find an affordable dr and one who will give you subutex instead of subs, and that is the hard part. I used suboxone successfully and have been here a while. If I had it to do over again, I would have found a dr who would write for subutex, but suboxone will work too. Now, if you want to go on it, Do NOT take the sleeping pills or the xanax while you are in the withdrawal waiting period to get on it, the temptation is great, but you really shouldn't take these types of meds while you are on subs or waiting to get on it, unless you have seizures or the subs dr knows in advance. Best of Luck, you are in my Prayers, seriously. Patti
