Wanted to add that the only side effects I have is dry mouth and very very tired. But today has been the best day in awhile. I get a lil shaky at times too. I see a therapist 2 times a week right now.
Hi cgorres, I have Generalized anxiety disorder and clinical depression, and I take Celexa too. It takes anywhere from four to maybe six weeks or more to feel the full benefits from the medication. when I first started taking it I started feeling better a week after taking it. You just have to give it time to start working, and it will. It has helped me. I also go to therapy, too. For my situation I have to have not only the meds but the therapy to help me deal with it and learn how to not worry about the things popping into my head and to be mindful and concentrate on the here and now. If you like I can help you with whatever advice I can give and tell you some of the effects it has on me. I've been on the meds for about six months. Add me as a friend and I'll add you. Don't worry, you'll be ok.
cgorre, if you are alredy feeling good, it must be going to work for you, also I think its great you are going to therapy. I know about the thoughts and trying to get rid of them, Im better but sometimes when I have a bad day the creep bad in and I just have to try and push them away. These girls have given you some really good advice.
Hi, i take celexa also. I wondered what dose you have been started on? Considering you are feeling better already is a great sign! I was started on 20mg and as laurie said, it can take about 4 weeks for you to get the full affect from the medication. I was on the 20mg for 2 or 3 weeks (i can't remember?) but still felt really depressed, so my doctor increased me to 40mg, and that made all the difference. Hopefully, because of the way you are feeling already, this won't be necessary for you, but remember it is an option. I have found celexa to help me massively! I hope you get the same success!
It's really good that you are feeling the effects of the med working already, stick with it and you will be a new person within a few weeks.
We are all here to help,so if you need to talk or ask any qs,post anytime,we've all been through similar things to each other and it helps to talk, like one of the others said you may benefit from therapy also to get to the full extent of your worries and to help you to deal with certain things popping up in your head.
Wishing you all the best, hope this med works for you and you reach the point where you will be happy,we all have our down day's but who does'nt,you will get better in time and learn to cope with the bad thoughts better than before.
Best of luck
