... now, I am taking 1mg of sub a night right now, so how do I completely stop I have the 2mg pills of sub so i figure the next step is to cut them in fours and take .5mg. But I don't know if I should start taking them every other night and leave a few days in between or just cut down to the smallest amount possible and stop. And sometimes I don't know why but I feel a little nervous because the sub always felt like a protection but at the same time I do feel ready and confident to stop I am just nervous, is that normal? If anyone has advice please help
hi danny, there are several methods to stopping sub.if your down to 1mg per day i gotta say congratulations your on your way to being sober. by that i am not saying that being on sub was not being sober. i hope you understand what i mean.once your down to where you are try making a solution of sub in a liquid form.take a baby aspirin eye droper that u can get in most pharmacys crush up a sub and add water and mix it up.you can make it and cut down to a very small amount.if this sounds kinda crazy its cause sub is much stronger then most of us were led to believe.or google the "thomas method" it is a way detox and put vitamins and minerals in your body to lesson the withdraw effects on your body. its a list of things that you could benefit by taking.give it a try. good luck and god bless you... pete
You have done very well as Sub said and you should be proud. Buprenorphine is extremely potent and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone jumping off at 1mg/day.
I believe you are on the right track with cutting the 2mg pills into quarters and taking .5mg everyday for at least 2 weeks. Then try and cut them into .25mgs and take that everyday for a minimum 2 weeks. Then start skipping every other day. Until you feel you can go without. The Thomas Recipe that Sub told you about is an excellent aide when you are detoxing. You have probably gone through the hard part in getting down to 1mg although that is equal to about 400mgs of morphine according to my opiate conversion chart. So hang in there and keep a positive attitude and just do what works best for you, educate yourself as much as possible on this drug... Dave
Dannypoo, I was taking OxyContin for ten years. I flushed it and took Suboxone for 2 days, hated it, so I cold-turkeyed after that. It was a miserable withdrawal, but that was 9 months and four days ago, and now I feel great! I am still in some pain, but I have my life back! You are on the right road and pat yourself on the back!!! Best wishes to you
