It is not advised for you to take benzos with suboxone (buprenorphine). There is risk for a drug interaction that can result in respiratory depression. It can cause you to stop breathing. That doesn't happen with every one who does it obviously but it is a real potential danger. Lots of suboxone drs will refuse to prescribe suboxone/subutex if the patient is currently taking a benzodiazepine. Be very careful.
I agree with Robert. I have been told (by friends) that it is unsafe to take the two drugs together. However, my suboxone doctor knows that I am being prescribed Xanax by another doctor, and hasn't really shown much concern over it. I am careful that I do not take more than is prescribed of either drug together, and I haven't overdosed yet. I would talk to your pharmacist for sure because the rumors I have heard are that the combination can be lethal.
