have been waiting 17 weeks for them to make me an appt. he has me on lortab ten it helps with pain but not burning. should it take this long for doc to call to make appt. does anyone have any advice ? thank you all and have a great day. perocet is the only thing i have found to help on 3000 mg of gebapintn also
Over 4 months is entirely too long for waiting to get an appointment. Sounds to me like someone dropped the ball. I would give the doctor's office a call and remind them that you are still waiting for the appointment. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Maybe you need to make the appointment yourself and not depend on the doctor's office to do it for you. You can still get a referral, if needed.
By the way, are you taking lortab or percocet? I was unclear as to your post. You mentioned that the pain meds are relieveing the pain but not the burning. Sounds to me like you have a pinched nerve. If the gabapentin isn't helping you might consider Lyrica or Cymbalta for nerve pain.
hi there. i am currently detoxing from lortab, but have been in your shoes. call the dr yourself. when it comes to your health, you need to be in charge. it is frustrating b/c you r the one sitting at home in pain that is affecting your everyday life, just waiting for a phone call. no one feels your pain but you. getting a pain management dr is a good thing. but you have to find a GOOD dr. they will get you on a schedule of appts and meds. they will try different meds and procedures that your regular doc can't do for you. they are very knowlegable but like i said... you have to find a GOOD dr. if you don't like the first one, get a 2nd opinion. its your pain! good luck! hope your pain gets managed properly.
I'm pretty sure I answered this yeterday, but don't see my comment. My primary is also a friend & explained why this is happening. All doctors are under new Federal regulations, that prescibe any pain meds have to have the patient sign a contract and do random urine tests. This is a big hassle & expense for them so they refer those patients to Pain Management Clinics. The pain clinics will have to do the same.My primary said he blood tested all his patients on pain meds & 50% were not taking them so they assume they were selling them on the street! THANKS all you A**hole for making it harder for the rest of us that really need pain drugs for chrontic pain! Sorry just had to vent! Anyway, this has put a big load on the pain docs as well. Did your doctor give you enough to last until your new appointment? He should have at least done that. If not you could find the ones selling theirs on the street! NO, just kidding! PLEASE don't do that.
Call him back & tell him you need enough til your new appointment. Giood luck to you. It's getting harder because of these Fed Reg., it has all the doctors afraid to write scripts except for Methadone (don;t go there) or long acting drugs like Extended release opiates, Good luck to you, & let us know how you come out Really curious hoe they treat you.
