From the information given on this site, it is a narcotic similar to morphine. It has some of the same side effects as morphine so be careful with it. Do not take anything for colds without talking to your doctor first. There are other things that you may want to read about on this website. Hope this was helpful and you get better soon. clint
Hi, Steffie... I hope this info will help, it's from the Medication Guide that my pharmicist gave me. The only active ingredient is "Tapentadol". Tapentadol is a strong med. simular to morphine; also very addictive. You mainly use it as a temp or "as needed" medication, like for breakthrough pain. That's what I am using it for. I too, have just started it, so I can't vouch for or against, or praise it yet. My doctor perscribed it to me inlue (sp... inloue, inlew, etc??? ) of Lortab. Lortab doesn't work the best for me, so we're always looking for something that works better for me. The side affects pretty much look like most pain meds, with a few extra thrown in. Breathing problems, constipation, sleepiness, nausua, dizziness, vomiting, and itching are listed as the common side affects...
More serious and less common effects are slowed heartbeat, cold/clammy skin, severe sleepiness, hallucinations, seizures, feeling faint, dizzy, confused, can't think or not being able to walk or talk normally. I hope this has helped and is what you were looking for. Good Luck!!
