I used methadone to get through the tough wd now i am on day 4 an am really weak still. I have to back to work monday and give a drug test for a teaching job within the next 2 weeks! Day 4 just really weak, day 5? how about monday? i was taking I 160mg prescribed by a dr. and they will never hire anyone on a narcotic drug. I dedicated my life to this. I has to get better.
Start exercising no matter what you feel like. Don't have to run five miles but push yourself. Do it late afternoon then early evening take a HOT bath. Kick back and relax. : ) That will help you "a little" with getting to sleep.
Bottom line is you won't die no matter how badly you feel. I stopped a 900mg a day oxycodone habit after using 35 years. It's the person doing the dance that makes the difference. If this is important enough to YOU then don't use no matter what. You'll get better if you don't use ALWAYS.
Along about day 4-5 you'll be past the worst of it. Then comes the emotions, fatigue, things that endorphine production brought on by exercise will help with. You should also start taking L-Tyrosine 500mg up to 2000mg along with vitamin B-6. You'll start feeling better over the weekend.
Let us know how you're doing. Hey .. you will survive this. Relax! God bless. : )
First of all my hat is off to you. You can make it. I have faith in folks like you. I actually am trying to get off methadone myself. I am down to 40 mgs. a day. I hope to decrease 10mgs every week until I am free. My problem is I am a chronic pain person. That sounds like an excuse and may be but I have had two major back surgeries L4 and L5. A lot of hardware and in April I had reconstructive thumb surgery. Enough about me... God bless you and I will pray for you too... Kim
I just wanted to write and let you know I have been on methadone for 2yrs and I am a teacher asst. and I was really worried about the test to. Almost all the test that people have can detect opiates but can not detect methadone. Someone has to test specifically for that. And testing for methadone is not common.
Also, the withdrawls for methadone take kinda long. I have heard that some people it lasts 7 days and some say 14 days. But you are almost halfway threw. So try your hardest to keep positive and keep going. Set some goals. And no matter what just do it. But take it one day at a time and don't get to overwhelmed. GOOD LUCK and I hope everything works out for you. Just remember your doing GREAT.
