I have adult ADHD and I am taking adderall xr 30mg in the morning and 20mg of adderall later in the... day. i can not afford it and i have no insurance. how can i get help paying for my meds??? the state says i make to much for public assistance and i do not have insurance where i work,,, i need these meds i have been taking them since '07 and i am doing so well in everything from work home and everything else... plz help me
I have two suggestions:
* talk to your pharmacist and your doctor about getting a 90 day supply rather than a 30 day supply of adderall. If your doc is comfortable and the pharmacy will do it, it should save you some $$ (both for meds and for fewer doctor visits to get scripts). If the pharmacy says "no", ask for a specific reason why not. If it's their policy, try another pharmacy. While some states may regulate this, there's no federal prohibition because I've filled 90-day scripts for adderall.
* Adderall XR is now available in generic form. You might try the generic form, and if it works well for you, save money that way. Be careful though, as generics don't always treat your symptoms as effectively as the brand-name drug. Also, all generics are not alike... so if you try one generic and it's not so hot, don't give up... try out other manufacturers' generic XR. (Be forwarned... my insurance company does not cover generic Adderall XR... it only covers the brand-name... my only guess is because there have been efficacy problems with the generics during this "start-up" period (generic XR only recently has become available).)
Good luck... I hope you find a solution that works for you and that you share it with us.
