The only way to do this legally is by a doctor writing a prescription. You really need to have the anxiety evaluated by a doctor anyway. I recommend a specialist such as a psychiatrist. They are the most skilled at evaluting and prescribing such meds.
you need to be honest and tell your doctor that you have tried the Xanax before and ask him if he would be willing to prescribe it and I have a long medical history witha previous history of Polio, chronic pain and towards the end of January injured the vertebraes in my back, then if February we had a snow storm followed by thick Ice, I had to get out, I did manage till I got down to the third step and I started going down, I caught a nasty injury to the disk in my back that has effects on the shoulder and left side neck included, I am on anti-inflammatories Ibuprofen also on Xanax but I take the Xanax in each time I go because I saw first hand with aomeone how quick probllems can arise especially when this person was increasing the dose on their own, I feel under the supervision of the doctor it is a good medication, It is my sincere wish that you find what works and that you start to improve soon, I wish you the very best
Hello rick-tonisanders. Everyones previous posts give you excellent advice. I am very serious when it comes to medications. Xanax is, has the potential to be very addictive and can also work adversely, against you, become counter productive. I was detoxed, of off this medication back in 1983. Its from the benzodiazepine family. Its a short acting medication. The problem is, it leaves your body quickly, so your body will grave it also more quickly. The side effects because your body looses it quickly, are very little. It was meant to act through this method. So the plus is minimal side effects, the minus is, your body will grave it more quickly. In my case, I was in a hospital setting. Spent just under 5 weeks there. I had a seizure, which left me loosing my ability to talk. It was very upsetting to say the least. Today, rick-tonisanders, more and more drs. are prescribing this medication. Having been on many medications, over time, this particular one, is for me, one of the most...
I'd say red flag sort of thing. Extremely addictive and also can be very yes very dangerous. Possibly if you decide and a dr. professional, that this is the medication for you, for there are several others in this family benzodiazepine... valium, klonopin, librium ativan etc etc. There are many other families of drugs to help with anxiety. Some have more serious interactions than others. Physical as well as ones that play on the mind. Hope that you find help and begin to feel better.
Yes honesty is the best way to go when talking with your doc.Tell him/her exactly how you feel and about your anxiety issues,i also suffer from anxiety but you need to be evaluated properly by your own personal experiences.Docs dont like been told what to prescribe at least not where i am anyway.He/she may suggest xanax and then again some other anti anxiety med, everyone is different and everyone's anxiety is their own,i would advise you speak truthfully to your doc about how you feel then you can get the right medication to suit you, your anxiety and your friends could be completely different,so therefore you could need stronger meds or mild, depending on the severity of anxiety.
Best of luck to you my friend and be honest with your situation, you wont do yourself any favours otherwise.
I'm currently on klonipin, but I used to be on xanax. My family physician put me on it because at the office visit I had a panic attack... social anxiety and very clearly needed it. Just talk to your doc about the severity of your cond and make sure to tell him it's acute and will only be taken as needed. Try to take it only when you have an attack and if you can keep from it, don't take it every day to avoid addiction. Don't wait til you run out to go back to the doc. Go at your scheduled appt time, and as someone else said, take what you have left with you to show the doc you are using it only as needed. Oh, and wouldn't ask for xanax. Just tell him you need something to help with the anxiety. And make sure he knows it's acute and how severe it is. Especially if it's causing major problems in your daily life, or at work.
Even if you get something different than xanax, give it a try. If it doesn't work for you the doc can keep changing it until you find one that works for you. By the way, the will probably start you on a low dose at first.
