i take 20 mg lexapro... what would be another good depression med to add with that (not wellbutrin)because my depression will not go away on lexapro alone... all answers will be so helpful
Hi lindagail, I have never stayed on any depression medication for more than eight weeks They always made me feel like a zombie. I was never happy and I was never sad, I prefer my emotions. That is not to say you don't need them and I know a great many people they have done wonders for. Instead of you suggesting another medication to your doctor, I think you may be better served to let him/her decide for you. All people react differently. I don't know I hope that helped even a bit. Keep me posted. Fall Queen
Hi Lindagail, I must agree with Fall Queen. The only thing we can do is make suggestions. That does not mean a certain med (or combination of meds) may work for you. AD's are highly individualized. And even if your Russian doc prescribes a med someone here suggests, whose to say a new doc will agree and continue to keep you on that regiment? Since he is leaving, do some research on a new doc right away. Up until I lost my insurance, I had been on one AD or another. Not one helped me not be depressed. They never lifted my mood, only kept me from sinking lower. On an even keel. It was up to me to push myself in to a better mood with the help of an AD. To be less depressed, is a combination of many factors including self help, cognitive therapy, and medication. Depression and its' cures has always been a guessing game. If there were a magic pill that would make people happy, depression would be a thing of the past.
I think I remember you have a counselor you were talking with? If so, increase those visits if you can. If someone were qualified to recommend an AD for you, it would be the person who knows you best and whom you talk with the most. That's usually the therapist. It also helps being able to share your thoughts and fears with friends who understand you. Even if it's here on DC. My best wishes to you. I hope you start research on finding a new doctor soon.
