I told him how well suboxone works and he's ready to make the switch now. He's just afraid switching from the high intake of opiates to suboxone overnight might be dangerous. Does anyone have an answer?
I have a friend who is taking 14 10 mg Norco a day. Can he switch to Norco without weining off Nrco?

My friend who is now going to take 24 hours between his 14 10mg Norco intake to switching to suboxone, wants to know what dosage he should take. He's been told a small amount will initially do the deal and a bigger dosage would be too huge a changeover.
What's the truth?

He wants me to ask if it is better to tough it out for the 24 hrs off Norco before his first dose of suboxone is much harder to do than having to go to a doctor and get a small amount of subutex to help ease the transition. He doesn't want to take time to go to the doctor for subutex unless it's going to be a major help in minimizing the withdrawl from Norco to suboxone in that 24 hour period. He says researching the subject seems to tell him to forget subutex and take the safe route of switching straight to suboxone. He has had good success on suboxone in the past.
He will have to be 24 hours off norco before he can start taking the suboxone, there has to be NO residual opiate on the receptor sites or he will go into precipitated withdrawal when he start suboxone. Most of the people in my group were taking 30 Lortab per day, 14 is a mere half of that. All of them did fine.
I'm a 110 lb female tht was taking 50-100 Norcos a day. Almost killing myself till my daughter found me help. Suboxzone is a miracle drug for me. It wasnt tht hard to detox 24 hrs. All I did was get up and take like 15 Norcos to get me thru the day. Then slept it off with a Valium. When I got to the dr he gave me a half a sub and I immediately felt normal. To anyone making the switch... You can do it if I did.
