... long does it take to withdraw from methadone on your own before I start on suboxone? I need help
It will take at least 5 days before you even feel the start of withdrawls from the methadone. Google "The COWS Scale" and use that. You should be in signifigant withdrawls before you start the suboxone. If you take the suboxone when you are in minor withdrawls then you will force a full withdrawl on yourself and believe me you don't want to go through that. Wait until you are really feeling shitty and then take 8 mgs under your tongue and let it fully dissolve. Wait a couple of hours and if you are not feeling any better then break a suboxone in half and put the 4 mgs under your tongue.
Do it this way as a lot of people tend to take to much suboxone which makes you feel lousy also. So hang in there and bite the bullet and go into withdrawls once, do it right so that you can have a smooth transition to buprenorphene. Once you get stable on the suboxone (buprenorphene) then you will feel normal again and you can get back to work or school or whatever you do to fill your day... Good luck..Dave
This may sound absurd but the suggested time between methadone and suboxone is 30 days (which is nutts cause if u could go 30 stays without anything u most likely wouldn't need anything or most likely would just stay clean since u had already made it 30 days) some docs will tell u that u may not even qualify for the suboxone program due to a certain length of time on methadone... And another pointer for u without insurance suboxone will probably cost u more than the methadone, suboxone runs around 7$-12$ a pop (pharmacy price) ur best bet is to talk to a suboxone doctor and u may need to talk to more than one because I'm sure u know there are a lot of them with a "holier than thou attitude"... I wish I could be more help (I've been In a very similar situation at one time and it's a slippery slope)
