pain now than when I had cancer. I have been on 10/325 (3 times a day) hydrocodone but doctor is refusing to prescribe more. Instead, he prescribed celebrex (400 mg. 1 time and gabapentin 300 mg. 3 times a day. Has this helped any of you. I can't get out of bed some mornings and I have three teenagers I have to keep up with. Any suggestions? Please help cause sometimes I wonder if its all worth the pain.
Are you cancer free at this point? What is the exact reason for pain managmnt?? Celebrex normally treats inflamation and gabapentin is for nerve pain etc... also cause you to not want to get out of bed, very weary feeling (drunk like) I personally hated that medication and did not get relief from it. And the celebrex has been linked to heart problems like other antianflamitory meds... they are very useful, but if not helping you, I would not want to be taking them. I am not sure the root cause of your pain... damage from the cancer? Maybe the doctor is concerned with too much pain medication and the tylenol in the 10/325, that can be ver bad for your liver especially after all u went thru... Wish I could be of more help here trica but we are kinda left to guessing since not sure of the actual cause of the end result causing the pain dear. Give lit'l more detail & we will try to narrow down a better response..God Bless & Good Health Momma N
I think you are going through withdrawal symptoms. I too am wondering why Dr. perscribed those medications for you(celebrex and gabapentin). I think you are going through withdrawal symptoms from the hydrocodone, which are more painful and HARDER, than anything I have been through, giving birth, breast surgery, etc.. I think the Dr. should explain this to you and maybe advise you to see someone who can wean you off slowly of the hydrocodone. Going from 10/325 of hydrocodone 3X a day for 2 years to nothing is horrible. You must get an explanation from your Dr.
