i have been suffering from tennis elbow and took a cortisone shot today, i was told the pain mught get worse before it gets better . can i take either tramadol or percocet for the pain? i also have advil pm and a combo of paraceaml and propoxyphene in the house. i am scared i wont be able to sleep due to the pain and would like to take something. i am taking simvastatin, lotan for blood pressure , microporin 75 mg and vitamin d on a regular base- would any of these have an effect on the cortisone and the pain pills thanks
I opted out of the cortizone shot today, the doctor said it would only relieve the pain 6-8 weeks. He gave me tramadol 50mg. I have fusion of C5/6 an spondylosis of C3/4. My MRI shows DDD and a thoracic herniation. My doctor thought a shot was the answer, I think not! I need a second opinion and you need a doctor who will answer your questions about pain. I am not a dr. but I think you could take something for pain, like tramadol. Good luck! Let me know how the shot works for you, PLEASE!
Well I take percocet (oxycodone) and I find that it works ok for easing pain but to sleep I take valium as needed. I would just stop the over the counter stuff because for me they do nothing and it would just affect your liver and kidneys. Advise your Dr about this. It may take some time for you to find the right combination that would be best for you. Just be firm with your Dr and let him know of any change in your pain levels. I have taken numerous injections over the years of cortisone and other stuff and sometimes I feel no difference in my pain levels. Usually the cortisone injections are done in series of 3 injections then wait a year then another series of three. Trigger point injections have helped me significantly but they all ways wear off over time. Again the first thing you must do is discuss these issues with your Dr good luck with this and I hope you feel better...
Cortisone shots do not negatively interact with opioids. Im kinda confused though; do you have a script for tramadol/ percocet or do you just have some of them? If youre scripted to them then yes you can take youre dose, but if theyre NOT prescribed to you i honestly think only the doc could tell you if theyd be bad to combine with your other meds. Mixing medications is tricky business... which is probably why doctors have to go through so much schooling to attain a license to practice, haha.
