I have not yet started taking Lithium, infact I was only given the prescription today. I don't want to be on a drug that can cause me to shake, feel cold, or cause me other serious health problems. I also think i may have been mis-diagnosed. Can a psychiatrist even diagnose you with something without testing you for it? Let alone the fact the appointment only lasted 15 whole minutes. Am I all wrong for lithium?
yes he can , but doesnt mean you are he goes by what you tell him sometimes there are no tests... some doc want you in and out and totally wronge but thats how they are it depends on you what you want do you want to depend on med rest of your life or can you be stronge without it and deal with your problems you have to ask yourself that then decide weither to take it but if you take it for month or longer you will have to slowly taper off .
If you haven't filled your rx yet, I encourage you to do so. I thought my psychiatrist was wrong too when she diagnosed me after 20 minutes, until I started taking medication and felt more even than I ever had been. If you keep hydrated the tremors are less likely to appear, and even when they do they are very fine. And as far as taking a med for the rest of your life, if the diagnosis is accurate it is just as valid a medical condition as diabetes, and just as out of your control. You wouldn't deny yourself insulin because it is a lifelong drug would you? Good luck
