... it turns out I can't take either one becomes I am on Luvox which I have been way before I started with her and it has helped with my OCD and Anxiety by 80 percent so I don't want to give it up. So she came up with Geodon to treat my depression. What do you all think about this medication for the using of major depression?
Well, didn't know that you were on Luvox, hence the problem with recommending drugs to other people without knowing everything they are taking. I don't know that much about Geodon, but I thought it was more for controlling manic episodes as opposed to depression. Did you happen to mention Abilify? It not only helps with mood disorder like Geodon but also helps increase the efficacy of other antidepressants. Just my thoughts based on my experience.
Hi, as Laurie says, geodon i used for schizophrenia and bipolar. Not a good drug for depression. I checked some of the anti-depressants that i have used (therefore know they can be effective), and came up with the following interaction results if taken with luvox;
Amitriptyline - major interaction
Celexa - moderate interaction
Prozac - no known interactions
So there is a chance you can stay on the luvox and use prozac for your depression, obviously you would need to double check that this combination would be safe with your doctor. But i have only come across one, there might be more...
