I am from Belgium, 47, female... This treatment was prescribed to me against severe depression - exceptionally the psychiatre said. My new doctor wants me to reduce to 16mg a day, but I feel fine and I don't want to. It suits me well and I am feeling like I am having a new life. Is there any good reason why I should reduce suboxone? When I was taking 16 a day, I was'nt feeling well in the evenings. Are there any bad longterm effects which I don't know about? Thank you for your help.
You should feel even better on a lesser dose as buprenorphine is a partial agonist. So the more you take the less effective it gets. Ever take Talwin?? Buprenorphine is in the same class of drug. 24mgs is just a waste as it has a ceiling of 32-36 mgs. After 7 months you can easily drop down... Hang in there, you'll be fine... Dave
P.S. You won't feel bad at nite since buprenorphine lasts a minimum 72 hours. What you are feeling is anxiety from being addicted and this behavior will pass. Actually after 7 months you should be out of that mode anyway... Good luck..Dave
hi gojoelle, i've been on sub 8 months and the only thing i can tell u is like you just said my life has changed for the better. as you know getting off sub will b just like gettin off any other addictive drug. ez does it.im taking sub to get off morphine and still trying to deal with my pain issues. No,i can't tell u of any adverse reason to come off sub other then u want to. im on 24mg- 8Mg 3x a day. i find that it works best for me that way. im also on elivil 100mg at bedtime. i would not change a thing that im doing... subzero58... pete.
Hi, I agree with Dave. What you are experiencing is your mental obsession making you feel sick, I have the same problem. The reality is that 16mg stimulates roughly the same number of opioid receptors as does 24mg. My advice is to spread your dose out more evenly throughout the day and then eliminate a couple of the doses slowly. This will keep your doses more steady throughout the day and keep you from feeling any difference from 24 to 16. Good luck. I don't know if your open to it, but also give 12 step a try.
