I have been on the roxi for a while now & it helps a great deal for break thru pain. I do wish my doctor would put me on the 30 mg roxi because I run out every month way to soon. I was just recently put on the opana & it seems to be working well but also too low of a dose. My question is does the opana make anyone else tired and will this effect go away once I have taken the drug for a while? I'm having some hallucinations too but I can live with that as long as they don't become worse. Has opana caused anyone else to have hallucinations? Also, if anybody knows an effective method of convincing a pain doctor to increase the amount and strength I would love to read it.
I can tell you that the roxicodone is oxycodone without acetaminophen and oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from thebaine that comes from the poppy plant. Thebaine derived products are more stimulating as thebaine has stimulatory properties. The opana (hydromorphone or oxymorphone)... can't remember which one it is) is also semi-synthetic but is derived from the morphine part of the poppy plant which is more relaxing as morphine is a depressant.
When asking your doctor for an increase in meds tell him what activities you have eliminated or visited less frequently due to pain. Start a pain journal and document time of effectiveness, before and after pain scores on a scaled from 1 to 10. They have many on the web that you can download for free and some are software based and you log in to record your pain levels. Just do a Google search for pain diary or pain log or pain journal. The physician can then take at look at what you pain levels have been on average.
I have never taken opana so I can't comment on the hallucinations but I am on oxycodone and morphine and I haven't had any hallucinations.
