I had 2 level artificial disc replacement to fix 2 ruptured disc in my lumbar area. I am tired of being on meds. I am tyring to ween myself off of the drug without using another narcotic to help with withdrawl. I am willing to just stop taking the drug. I need to pass a urine drug screen in 2 weeks. is this possible? are there any detoxifiers to purchase that would make me clean?
Oxycontin is an opiate that stays in your system for up to a week, I think. If you have a prescription for them from a doctor, can't you provide that at the time of the drug screening to show that you are "legal". Just a thought.
Don't go off the oxycontin cold turkey or you will go into withdrawls which can be very painful to say the least. If you have to, taper off over the next week and hopefully you will test clean by the following week. This is going to be very difficult and you may still experience withdrawls since you are on a high dose. I am not aware of any detoxifiers, sorry.
Good luck and keep in touch,
Like Laurie said, if you have an RX there should be no problem. How long have you been taking Oxy?
I went cold turkey off prescribed (160mgs daily) Oxy that I took for almost ten years, and it was NOT PLEASANT. It was quite horrid going cold turkey. Yet it can be done.
If you are determined to go off this med, please google The Thomas Recipe for a list of OTC and RX meds you may need while in WD.
If you have been taking opiates for a long time, longer than one year, please google Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, this explains why we feel so bad mentally when opiate cessation begins. It affects chemicals in the brain, like serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine and endorphins. Stopping opiates can cause depression, so be mindful of that. Nothing to muck about with.
