I'm not sure about the answer to both your questions ... and it is best to discuss it with your renal specialist. It is interesting though that you are being prescribed Renvela when you aren't on dialysis.
Renvela (sevelamer) is a phosphate binder. Sevelamer helps prevent hypocalcemia (low levels of calcium in the body) caused by elevated phosphorus.
Renvela is used to reduce blood levels of phosphorus in people with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis.
