Well a drinker like that is an alcoholic, I was one for 20 years as well, and thank GOD , my liver is fine.-
But we are all unique, meaning I was ok, maybe he / she is not, alcohol is a drug, and we all react differently to drugs legal and illegal.
I would say not in a very healthy state and would have to get a check up immediately, and discard sirocis.- And start to drink less.-
Alcoholism as a rule will hurt a woman's liver quicker than a man's but still I would think that this person is at least compromising their liver and has lower function. If they take any additional medications regularly, for example Dilantin or Tylenol, that also is adding to the damage the alcohol is doing. One way to check for liver damage is to look at the fingernails, if the edge of the nail is curved down, but it is straight on both corners, this can mean liver damage. It is called clubbed nails.
