... about one month giving me several hours of excruciating headache a day. I use steroid (prednizone) to break the cycle but until it's broken I use imitrex injection to get rid of the pain. The injection works within minutes and removes the pain completely. The question I have is: can I use imitrex injections for as long as I have the headache (in my case over a month) instead of taking steroids? In other words, is there a serious danger in a prolong every day use of the injection?
You should try and use this stuff like any other heavy duty pain killer.
Most carry a risk factor for harming some organ of the body. The main thing is you need it to control pain and to choose between the risk and the pain your suffering with.It a hell of a choice to have to pick. If the pain over rides the risk, go for it. Always check and recheck for a better pain controlling Med. Search on here for help in finding better choices.
Sorry for your suffering and hang tough,
there is a way to increase the use of imitrex injections! there is a great support group website called "clusterheadaches.com" You can go to that site and on the left of the page there is a link that says "imitex tip" follow the instructions! I get up to 6 shots out of 2! hope this helps let me know!
