... Has anyone in the group used zyban. How is chantix affecting you?
I have not taken Zyban but am on Chantix and am a believer. They talk about Chantix like it’s a miracle drug. I was the friend everyone has that would never quit smoking... and after a month smoke free, I am a believer. It’s as close to a miracle as you’re going to get. I was one of the lucky ones though. The side effects have not really been an issue for me. I get vivid dreams, but nightmares like some describe. The second week, when you go from the .5 mg to the 1mg, I was nauseous, particularly in the morning, when I took my pill. But it passed after maybe a half hour. Some people describe debilitating nausea. Luckily I didn’t experience that. Mood swings and suicidal thoughts? Not for me. I am feisty by nature but find that on Chantix I am real quick to “put my dukes up”. From what research I have done, people fall into two categories.
Either the side effects are to much for the person to deal with and they get off the Chantix and still smoke OR the person takes it for the 12 weeks (sometimes less) and doesn’t smoke anymore. Obviously there will be exceptions to the rule. But so far, that’s what I have found. One of my co-workers, a smoker, tried Zyban, was off cigarettes for a few months and then went back. Based upon my experience thus far, she is about to try Chantix. Hope that helps!
I started with chantix I never thought I can stop smoking it WORKS! But after a month I became really sick now I suffer anxiety disorder so I have to take xanax and bupropion HcL 100 mg... I'm happy I don't smoke but if I don't take my medicine I get serious panic disorder I feel like I'm dying :( wondering did It work for you?
I'd rather crawl on broken glass than to take Chantix EVER again!! I took it one time & I had a migraine headache for a MONTH that would NOT go away no matter WHAT the E.R. Dr. gave me. I finally got an appointment & my family Dr. prescribed Relpax, it was a MIRACLE drug for me!!! I didn't have a migraine for about 48 hours, then I had one other migraine & none since. Now I've had the usual run-of-the-mill headaches afterwards, but NOTHING like the migraines I suffered from Chantix!!! They can KEEP that sh*t!!!
