I am currently using cerazette ( mini Pill) I have seen that using Topiramate with eastrogen pills will reduce the effectiveness of the pill. Would this be the case with cerazette? Also I want to go back onto the Depo injection as this is a progestin product would this still be effective. Sorry but I really really dont want children and have been warned of the side effects topiramate can have on births. Due to the large amount of side effects I just want to make sure. Thankyou for your time and help.
The combination of Topiramate and the mini-pill can result in reduced effectiveness of the mini-pill because of a drug interaction - topiramate is a "hepatic enzyme inducer" which results in faster metabolism of the mini-pill and reduced contraceptive effect.
Since you are likely to be taking the Topiramate long term you should consider another method of contraception.
Talk with your doctor about your options.
