I was on OC for approximately 4 months taking up to 80 to 100 mgs per day. I have been doing sub treatment for approximately 4 weeks. Initially, my doc put me on 8 mg 3 times a day. I quickly realized this was way more than what I needed. I was sick from so much sub in my system. I stopped using it for 7 days and due to the half life, I did not experience any w/d symptoms until around day 5. On day 7 I could not take it anymore so I took about 2 mg of the strip. I quickly realized I could get by with about .75-1 mg per day. I want to taper and be done with this completely.
I am currently taking 1 mg of suboxone once a day and want to wean off completely; what should I do?

Well, I have not had success at tapering down in .25mg segments. I'm debating whether to just jump and go cold turkey from 1 to 1.25 mg. I just want to be completely drug free! The suboxone makes me sleepy and depressed. I am tired of my life being dictated by drugs in one form or another. Any suggestions as to whether I should continue to try to taper or just go cold turkey? i really want to be off this stuff. thank you all!
While you haven't been on the Suboxone for very long, since you weren't on the Oxycontin for very long you may be alright to taper off the Suboxone. My doctor recommends being on the Suboxone for at least three months. Cutting your dosage in half for a month and then going to every other day for a month is probably your best bet to keep from having withdrawals.
I researched and read about lots of ways to taper off subs. I was so scared of getting terrible withdrawals stopping subs. I got down to about 1/2mg a day or less then skipped some days between doses until I was out. Probably two weeks or less. I didn't feel any terrible withdrawal symptoms. A little bit of anxiety and lower energy for a couple weeks after but I was able to work and do all my normal activity with no problem. Good luck!
I really appreciate the responses from the supporters on here. It has encouraged me a lot. I have tapered to approximately 1 mg, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to make the plunge. I always come up with an excuse that I need to stay on them because of the next big event at work. I work in a fast paced environment as a Law... so it is not easy finding the right time to cut down. I've also struggled with cutting down one day, only to go back to the 1 mg or 1.25 mg the next day. Very frustrating. I feel like I kid, but i'm contemplating giving them to my wife and asking her to dispense 1 mg for four or five days and then reduce by .25 mg every four to five days, and then skip a day for a four or five days. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
i also am at 1 mg. suboxone... that is still too high to jump... you must keep weening because of the half life... get to .25 for at least 4 to 5 days then jump.I had gotten off suboxone 2 years ago and had a relapse after hurricane sandy,as my house flooded with 4 feet of water... Also I took small amounts of kratom for 4 days after a jump. The problem after a jump is lack of sleep... It took me 17 days before i got a full night of sleep last time... thats the worst part
