Is a therapist a good idea or not. Most days hes so over active i want to hide and cry. I cant keep him busy enough or on task. He is also very aggressive and mean to adults and children as well. Some people tell me that hes a normal 3.5 year old and theres others that cant understand how i can deal everyday. I tell ya if i wasnt medicated myself i dont think i could. I did recomend to his family doctor and she did say he shows many signs and that shed write a referal but im very worried about medicating such a young child... HELP!
I think for your son's well-being (and your own) that you should at least let him be seen by a therapist. If the tehrapist diagnoses him as ADD or ADHD, then you can think about whether or not to medicate him. He may not need meds at all. If he does, you need to remember that it is certainly your right NOT to give him medication, BUT you should become informed about the meds and the diagnosis before you decide. A lot of people struggle with this decision and most say that, although they did not want to, they were glad that they did. My biggest argument for medicating kids with ADD or ADHD is that about 90% of children who are diagnosised with either one will carry the symptoms into adulthood if left untreated. I bet a lot of people will post to this because there are a lot of folks on here who have struggled with the same decision. Listen to what the say, read all that you can, and then decide. Hope this helps.
