The medicine worked just had a severe rash and doc took me off it. im bipolar on the depressed side. plz help if u can
I recommend Abilify. I use to take both lamictal and Abilify, but the doctor said I really didn't need both so I discontinued the lamictal and have done very well. I, too, am bipolar on the depressed side and have found the Abilify to not only help the mood swings but also enhance the effects of the antidperessants I take.
Well, I would suggest depakote, as it too is a mood stabilizer; I'm given to understand that it's a bit of a stronger drug than lamictal, and after the first six months of usage (whereby you have to go for three-month blood tests to check for liver function), all it then requires is a yearly blood test.
I was taking it in conjunction with abilify, but five weeks ago the abilify caused me to acquire extremely high cholesterol and pre-diabetes which are noted side effects of this drug. This being for the treatment of bipolar I with mixed features. So, on just the depakote alone, so far so good. I've been taking it for many years, and it has never let me down, so I have to give it a thumbs up.
I was diagnosed bipolar II depressed a lifetime ago. Since that time, I have tried every combo of psych drugs to make my life worth living. After approximately 10 years, the shrinks and I worked out a great mix for me: Cymbalta, Depakote and clonazepam. It has worked forthe last 10 years for me. In my life adventures, i got stuck in Indiana without a doc or meds. On my first admission to the looney him, I was tried on almost all of the atypical antipsychotics, not even one had any effect on me. Finally the docs listened to me and put me back on Cymbalta, Depakote and Klonopin. Again my life calmed down, no more homicidal or suicidal thoughts, thank goodness.
it seems everyone's brain chemistry is a little different and it takes a while to find the right mixture of medications for your unique self.
