months (A very long 2 months). I dont think I can make it through a day at work let alone the whole week by 10am I get nausia, start sweating and my head feels like its going to explode. Thats day one..Day two is worse... then add the no sleep and emotional roller coaster for the next week or two..Anyone have any tricks to help with the withdrawls?
Google "The Thomas Recipe" and set a date that you are going to stop. Follow the Thomas recipe as closely as you can. It does help quite a bit but you should try and get a week off work if at all possible. There are no magic pills or tricks but you can do some things that will help you through the 5 day withdrawals. Good luck and hang in there, remember to try and get out for a walk in the mornings and again after supper. This helps promote endorphin production which helps with the unbearable depression that develops when you stop abusing opiates. So eat a high protein diet for the first 3 months and get out for those all important walks... Dave
Please follow mpvt's advice. He knows what he's talking about. It may also help you to know that you are not alone! I've been off and on opiates for quite a while. What I DO know for a fact is once you kick the pills, you will feel like a new person! It's not going to be easy, but once you make up your mind to really do it this time, you will succeed. During your moments of weakness, think about all the positive things you have going for you and walk off the nervous energy. I'm not naive', I know it will be tough. But you have so much to lose if you don't stick with it. Please come to this site often for support. There are many good people here willing to help you get through this. I promise you, one day you will look back and think, "What the heck was I thinking?" Trust in yourself. Stay strong. I don't know too many people able to do this without support of others. Wishing you the best,
