... flabby skin hanging down around my pubic area. I suffer from rash and irritation caused from rubbing and sweat. It sometimes gets so painful I can barely function. A doctor once diagnosed it as a bacterial infection, and prescribed two ointments. They have worked in the past, but I recently got this condition again, and I have not been able to get rid of it. I have tried the OTC products my doctor suggested, but it has been 2 months, and it is finally now beginning to show some improvement. My husband recently lost his job, and I work two part-time jobs, neither of which provide any medical insurance, so I have not gone to the doctor. My mother told me about Phisohex, and how she used to use it often, until it was no longer available OTC. I asked a pharmasist just today about the availability of Phisohex OTC, and she said yes it is again available. Might this be something I should try for my condition, or would it be inappropriate for that sensitive area?
It might be a fungal yeast skin infection. Women often can get yeast of the skin in a warm wet area, like under the breasts. Antibiotic use can trigger a fungal infection as it tends to kill off both pathogenic and beneficial bacteria, the ones that control yeast overgrowth. Hormone use, birth control pills use and diabetes can make you more prone to yeast. Have you been checked for diabetes. There is an oral pill called diflucan or fluconazole that could help if it is fungal, it is prescription. If you have not had this checked by an actual dermatologist, you should. I am a hairdresser and many ask me or their gp about skin conditions. A dermatologist is the specialist needed, gps don't have enough info to treat recurrent skin conditions. Patti
I don't know anything over the counter. I have a Nystatin powder prescribed for me that helps, also I once got a strep skin infection in that area and was prescribed Bactroban? I believe. But you would have to see a doctor for either of these. Great that you lost all that weight though - perhaps someday you'll be able to have surgery to reduce the excess skin. I'm sure you want it gone -
Creatam congrats on the hundred pounds and welcome to the site. I was wondering if you have a clinic in your area that helps people with low income my mom goes to one because she has no insurance so if you have low income they sometimes only charge like 10$ and they do everything from dental to even her mamagrams and pap test if they can't handle it there they send her to specialist and they to help with the cost. You don't wanna let a skin infection go to far if you can't find a clinic then goto the er they have to see you insurance or not. Try to soak in an aveeno oatmeal bath that is great for rashes, measles, chicken pox, poison ivy all kinds of skin prob try it. But det medical care please. Take care
