This is the 5th time I have tried to stop. 1st the freezing sets in, along with back pain and body aches, I swear I can't walk... not even to the bathroom. I cannot even sleep for a bit of relief. I really need help, my addiction is my dirty little secret.
Hi and welcome to the site. Are you taking these for pain, or did you pick the habit up from recreational use? If for pain, do you have a plan as to how you will address this when you are past the wd's?
Also, have you tried tapering down, or is CT the only way you can stop taking the pills? I know you are going to be in for a rough week. It will be at it's worst (from all of the reading I've done here) at about day 5 or so. You will also struggle with lack of energy for a while afterwards until your body can begin producing the chemicals that your pills were providing.
I want to recommend that you also seek counseling in a group and one on one setting to have someone to talk with after you are past the wd's as you will need a support system to help you through the times that you will be fighting urges to use again. Also, you will want to address your reason for having the habit and how to function without the pills. This is a great site to add to your support group as there are so many wonderful people here that have been where you are now and can be 'with' you.
Google the Thomas Recipe as well. This is a good regime to follow to help with the wd's.
Best of luck to you! Please hang in there..you CAN survive this and get back to being YOU again. :)
I hope this helps,
I really recommend you taper from the Norco rather than going cold turkey. I know it takes determination, but if done correctly you can avoid most of the withdrawals. If you would like help with a taper plan, I'm here to help. Otherwise, google the Thomas Recipe for opiate withdrawal. It will give you a list of mostly over the counter remedies to take while withdrawaling. It does recommend a benzodiaepine such as valium, this requires a prescription.
Hang in there and if you want a taper plan, don't hesitate to ask,
You may also try and take as many hot baths as you can stand. AND, for as HOT as you can stand! This, coupled with heating pads/blankets should help. Also, take benedryl. That will help with the RLS and sneezing, and hopefully gain some sleep as well.
Let us know how you are doing.
