... 90 percent of my life. I am not interested in getting hooked on painkillers, will doctors presribe suboxone for pain management?
Hey michael rowley,
Although the pain relieving ingredient, burprenorphine, in Suboxone is prescribed in other forms for pain relief, Suboxone itself is for opiate detox. Buprenorphine, an opiate, is used in injection form or as a patch to relieve pain. It is addictive, just as any opiate. In fact, if you use Suboxone, it too must be tapered off of to avoid withdrawal symptoms. So I don't think you will find a doctor to prescribe buprenorphine in the form of Suboxone for pain relief.
You sound like you might benefit from a medication like Celebrex for arthritis type pain. It is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory which works very well for some people. You would have to talk to your doctor to get a prescription for this.
