After my hysterectomy 8 weeks ago my husband and I waited until last night to have sex (as instructed) a few mins in I experienced sharp vaginal pain which turned to extreme abdominal pain with vomiting. I am still in extreme pain today which gets worse when I go to the bathroom. Please help. Neither of my drs work today.
Hysterectomy is a major surgery – one that can cause adhesions to form, creating pain that lasts long after the surgery.
Depending on the type of hysterectomy was performed, they removed part of your sympathetic nervous system. Organs that were removed didn't have nerves attached to it. But you body knows something happened and tries to heal. Thus forming adhesions. I'm GUESSING that during sex you tore an adhesion. OUCH! Your nervous system sends pain signals to your brain. You cant pinpoint it, but you just hurt. This can cause vomiting, nausea. Much like a male being kicked in the testicles. He gets kicked in the testicles but his stomach hurts. This is because testicles and ovaries were created in the abdomen. So the brain thinks that when a testicle hurts, its in the stomach. Kind of hard to explain without the testicular analogy. It sounds like a far fetch but with only 1 paragraph to know what's going on with you, that's what I say.
Great answer Nun!!!
If you can't wait then go to ER or Urgent Care.
I'm kind of perplexed with the vomiting.
If you develop a fever than definitely go today.
Can you get through to your doc and have a phone visit?
Perhaps using lubricant and slowly try having sex gently without going as deep.
I had a hysterectomy and didn't feel anything but tenderness and a stiff feeling which resolved after completion.
Do you know the anatomy involved in a hysterectomy?
If you use a speculum, nothing is changed except the top of the cervix where it's been closed. No incisions were made in the vaginal wall.
Are you having any bleeding today?
If so, another reason to get attention ASAP.
