Hi, My husband was diagnosed about 8 years ago and had similar symptoms with the same questions you are asking. He also was doing the injections and recently switched to the Testim Gel because it seemed like a better alternative, and so far so good. When he first started on the injections, it was probably a few days before there was any relief, but I need to point out that my husband said that he didn't notice a marked improvement from the shots the entire time he was on them. I noticed that he wasn't as sleepy and was more energetic, with an increase in libido. He agrees about the libido, but says it could have been better. He also noticed the heavy desire to sleep wasn't as strong as before, but he still felt lethargic. We heard about the gel that comes in a pump bottle, and one pump of the gel you apply to your shoulder areas. You put it on once a day. It dries quickly, but you have to be careful about skin to skin contact with a female on the area of application. They advise to wash it off with soap and water if you anticipate contact. With the gel, he feels 100% better. He has energy, higher libido, less
weird sick feelings. I would advise you to look into Testim gel, or Andro gel. They are both brand names, and both are getting rave reviews. Our insurance covers it, which is great because it's pricey. They have also come out with generic versions. Less expensive than the brand names. In the US, it's about $350 and higher for brand names. I'm not sure how much generics are. They always have deals and coupons on the websites of the medicines. Also, I'm sure each person is different, because my husband also suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis, an immuno suppressive disease that causes the joints of the spine to slowly fuse together over time. Some of his symptoms may enhance the negative symptoms of low testosterone. Just thought I'd mention that I'm not a Dr,
and you should definitely talk to your Dr. before deciding to change to a gel. They also have trans-dermal patches that you replace every 24 hours. My husband tried that too, but the patches wouldn't stay on his skin. It was a pain. Good luck to you. Give it a few more days before you decide if this shot is working for you. Again, we're all different.Feel free to message me any time if you want to talk or have any questions, my husband would be glad to talk to you.
