I've been taking hydroxyzine for about 3 weeks. (Almost done with the bottle) one every 6 hours as needed for anxiety and I have been emotionless! I am having such a hard time caring about anything including my girlfriend and her emotions or feeling and this is so unlike me! Is this normal??? Please help.
Kamrijade; Sorry you have not gotten an answer, Sounds like you might be able to get by with a little lower dose. Your should talk with the doctor and let the doctor know how you are feeling if the anxiety is getting a bit better you can always stretch it out some between doses also. But you want to make sure it's okay with your doctor and also this could be a side effect of just the starting of this medication many times it well not hit you as hard with continued use.Hope that well make you feel a bit better. Good luck Chuck1957
Hi Kamrijade: I only take hydroxyzine at bedtime to help me sleep when I am taking other medications that are known to cause insomnia. It gives me a good night's sleep and I don't have to take it every night - it's an only as needed med for this condition. For anxiety - my doctor prescribed buspar for this condition for me. I have been taking it successfully for anxiety for over a year and it doesn't cause drowsiness during the day. It will keep you from feeling like a zombie during the day like hydroxyzine can! Just a suggestion... Talk it over with your doctor and see what he suggests.
IMPORTANT-WHAT WAS THE HYDROXYZINE PRESCRIBED TO YOU FOR/WHAT IS THE DOSAGE AND THE STRENGTH? If you are used to hydroxyzine for sleep aid, anxiety, skin irritation, it depends on these things to help me understand why your reaction is so miserable. I am used to Benadryl so a 10 mg hydroxyzine does not even affect me. My daughter however can be turned into a zombie which was shocking to me since this is such an incredibly weak antihistamine. and I do mean weak, for most. You should not drink any alcohol, even a beer if it affects you this way.
