... on 9 pills ... 3in the am 3 in the afteenoon and 3 in the evening... thats 1,500 mg 3 times daily!!! Hes miserable... sore mouth..constapation... weak..dizzy... some nose bleeding..tired all the time... his appetite is at a minumum... Hes been on this other med to liquify his blood as well... Its called persantine 50mg... Hes been on this dosage for 2 weeks now ... im really worried.. His dr is on vacation and he doesnt want to go to the er either.. He goes for his blood work tomorrow... If his platelets go down from where they were in the clouds from 1.182 im cutting him off the high dosage until he goes back to his dr. On may 6th im going to give him only the dosage in the am and the dosage in the evening... He looks so sick.. Its awful... What do u guys think ... HELP PLEASE THIS IS SO NEW TO US ...
This is an old question. But the answer is that the dosage is calculated on the weight of a person. Usual dose is 15mg /kg, and usually once per day. Most times morning although som epeople opt for taking at night.
I think the max is 35mg/kg. But it carries severe warnings with this. Hydrea will reduce your blood counts, a special term which I cant remember. I take 1500mg per day and my counts are a third of what they were. Almost too low now, so its wait and see and then maybe try to reduce the mg to see if it can hold at the ideal levels.
