ing better, but this is short lived.Still got lots of depression and of course i don,t know if this drug is going to work.Does anybody have any experience with cymbalta? did it take a while to kick in? terry
I am Bi Polar and had been on Cymbalta a few years ago. As with all antidepressants it takes time 4 weeks on whatever dose your on for it to fully be effective if it's going to be. Unfortunately Cymbalta didn't work for me but then neither did a lot of the medications I've tried. If the Cymbalta doesn't work or starts to work then stops talk to your psych provider about trying something else. What i'e discovered is treating depression or i polar is not an exact science. Sometimes you have to try several meds or combinations of meds to find what's right for you.
Another word of advice is don't use your primary care provider or family MD seek a qualified mental health professional to prescribe your psych medications.
It does take about 6 weeks to kick in. I was on that then many more before I went to s psychiatrist who just prescribes medication. He advised me that cymbalta pritique wellbutrin etc are short lived. I do not see him as counselor just for medication because that is his expertice. If you second thoughts you may go that route and get started on something that is specifically for your diagnosis hope this helps
