His being evaluated for a transplant but theyve told us b4 that he is not a candidate due to all his other complications they've already told us that he has congestive heart failure plus renal failure and his spleen I wanna help him before he gets his tests so maybe they're better n he will be a candidate please help what can I do his only 52 never drank he was always in sports his brother passed away 2 weeks ago of cirrhosis also not a heavy drinker
I'm about to start the whole interview process next year (former HCV and alcoholic) and health, paradoxically, is important. My kidneys are good and my heart is okay; the spleen gets removed (if it's like mine) and you get the liver. (that's the theory anyway)
The real issue is that you have to be healthy enough to survive the surgery and well beyond. They probably won't give a liver to someone who also needs a heart/heart lung/kidney transplant also (sorry, but this sounds like steroid damage). Cardiac arrest on the table will probably end in tears. In my case, the issue is the lack of donor organs; 167 'potential' livers a year.
I'm totally out of medical ideas, but I wish you the best.
